JUICE FASTING HEALING CRISIS

The most challenging part of any cleanse is the symptoms that accompany going off food—the “detox symptoms" or "healing crisis".  Everyone is affected differently: they can be mild, heavy, or nonexistent… but most people experience at least a couple.
They’re usually felt strongest within the first 48-36 hours of the cleanse/ juice fast. 

Symptoms can include:
  • skin breakouts
  • fatigue
  • headaches & dizziness
  • gas and bloating
  • nausea
  • constipation or diarrhea
  • low energy
  • itchiness
  • difficult to sleep
  • body aches
  • extreme cravings
  • fever & flu symptoms 
​Don't worry! you won’t experience them all, but these make up some of the possible reactions you may encounter. 

Your reaction depends largely on your metabolism, genetics, pre-cleanse regime, and the amount of toxins digested in your past and present lifestyle. Different metabolisms react differently to the cleanse protocol: while you’re detoxing, your body focuses on ridding itself of stored toxins. With all the rubbish dislodged and traveling through your body to be released, you may feel some discomfort and even slightly nauseous. 

A very small percentage of people may start feeling these symptoms only later in the cleanse. It’s just the body's system being flooded with long-suppressed toxins – you need time to adjust. Hang in there, and remember to hydrate! Plenty of water will help move these toxins out of your system so much quicker.

LEMON WATER

Warm lemon water is the perfect way to start the day and get the digestive system moving—warm water is soothing, and lemon is alkalizing. Everyone takes his or her lemon water differently: we like half a lemon squeezed into hot water. Simple!

HERBAL TEAS 

Herbal Teas are cleansers' best friends. People on long cleanses are known to go a little tea-mad—knocking back a wide sampling of different teas.
You’re free to try anything as long as it’s herbal (think chamomile, rooibos, peppermint). We do not recommend herbal laxative teas unless you’re experiencing acute constipation and have tried all the other suggestions found in this guide.

PROPER HYDRATION

Try drinking one of your juices, then a bottle of water. Repeat. This keeps you hydrated longer and aids in cleaning out the lymphatic system.

GET A MASSAGE 

Try lymphatic massages. These regulate blood flow and relax the body. They also assist the body in moving released toxins through your system.
